Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. More.

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income.

Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad unit and 1 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

Tutorial Explanation:

I will show how in a few simple steps, you can change your AdSense Background colors, to suit any part of your site!

Needed Tools:

- An AdSense Account.
- Adobe Photoshop.

OK! Lets Begin!

Step Number one:

- Open Photoshop.
- Open your website in your browser.
- Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) button, on your keyboard.
- Open a new document in PhotoShop (CTR+N). (settings don't matter..)
- Paste the printed screen into Photoshop. (Simply press CTR+V)

Step Number Two:

- Click on the Brush tool in Photoshop.

Step number Three:

- Hold down the ALT button, on your keyboard.

Step number Four:

- While holding down the ALT button, select and click with your mouse, the color you want your Ad to be.

- After choosing the color, Click on the color palate. (The colored box in the picture)

Step number Five:

- You should now be in the Color Setting. (Like in the picture)

- Copy the content of the box I marked in the picture. (Simply select it, and press CTR+C)

Step number Six:

- Go into your AdSense Account.
- Go into the AdSense Setup page, and select the AdSense for content (or Search..)
- Choose the settings you like for the Ad, and finally, get to the Ad color settings. (it should look like the picture..)
- Select the content of the Background box.

Step number Seven:

remember that when we were in Photoshop, we copied something? Now is the time to use it.

One way to generate income from a blog is with Google AdSense. Setting up an account is simple and so is implementing the code.

The hard part is figuring out which ad types to use and where to place them. But don't be put off by this. Just experiment and see which ones return the best results. To the point, there are any tricks to optimize your site on Google search.

1. Locate your ads. Set your ads on the middle or one of the side of your page. Better if you always write a long article, set the ads on the bottom of your page or blog.

2. Format it. Choose it the best yourself for your site. Or yo can try to use optimized page that ready to show optimized Google AdSense. You know where to find them.

3. Choose the Ads color. Blends it with your site colors. But be carefull with the newest Google AdSense TOS. You can't use the same format for your site links with Google AdSense format. Especially for Font's name and its size.

Approach The Masters

The web is one big interactive community. Just as you need to communicate with those who write to you, you are going to need to start writing to others.

See a nice site in your topic area that you like? Ask them politely for a link exchange. Find a fantastic PR10 site that is just what you’re trying to achieve? Ask them politely for a link exchange. Be polite and write enough to show you're not a spammer. They may refuse, but if they accept you’re on an easy street with a lot of traffic!

As Google admits, the links that your site receives are an extremely important factor when it comes to your site’s PageRank and ranking in searches.

A word of warning when linking to other sites: Don’t link with just any site. Only link to sites that are established and relevant to your area. Your “cat food” site linking to a site about “paper manufacturing” will not help your rankings and make your site seem disjointed. Google will recognize this and punish you for it. Also, don’t ask for link exchanges until you are well-established. If you ask for a link exchange and the person visits your site to find that you have just one article or post on your blog, you are going to look unprofessional and are likely to be refused. Wait a couple of weeks until you have more posts and your site is “fuller” – the sites are more likely to accept the exchange and may even place you higher on their link list! Links from other sites are the easiest way to generate traffic!

So there are my six steps for How I Achieved Over 1500 Hits In My First 2 Weeks! I strongly believe this advice can work for anyone with a new site and for those with an established site who are seeking more hits.

If somebody sends you an e-mail about your site – reply. If someone leaves a comment on your site – go to their site and post a comment.

It’s another incredibly time-consuming technique, yet one of the best for gaining repeat visitors. Darren Rowse from Problogger is an incredibly busy man who makes a living from blogging online, yet he replied to one of my e-mails within 12 hours of it being sent. Andrew Wee is another successful internet marketer who also replies promptly.

This brings your site into the home of the visitor and they will come back to see what you’re going to write next.

The other great way to enter your visitor’s world is web forums. Post and post some more! Web forums are great communities for promoting your site. Find a forum that is about the topic you are writing about and become active in it. Forums such as Mylot will even pay you to post in their forums. This promotes your site to communities that are interested in your topic and that are incredibly likely to come visit your site. Don’t forget to add your website address to your signature to make your website easy to find. If you can’t find a forum on the topic you’re site is about – no problem – start your own!

The other benefit of forums is that search engines absolutely love them! Forums are updated constantly which brings the search engines back – and they’re going to find your link in your signature! Consider yourself indexed!

This step isn’t for everybody and depends on the content of your site. You need to show your visitors the ‘personality’ of your website. Look at successful sites such as Problogger and WhoIsAndrewWee. What do you notice? Large photos of the webmasters. Is it vanity? Perhaps a little, but it also personalizes your site and gives your site a face that people can relate to and communicate (see Step 5) with. It’s worked for Microsoft (Bill Gates) and Apple (Steve Jobs) and it will work for you!

If you’re not comfortable posting your photo or feel that it wouldn’t suit your site, at least write an “About the Author” section on your site so that people know more about you. Check out AndrewWee’s Bio. With all that information, we know exactly who is writing and it gives his site ‘personality’!

As I said before, the phrase “build a fresh, content-rich” site is used far too much, but unfortunately it’s true. To establish your site, you need to write and write a lot. It’s the only way that your site is going to grow and become successful. This is why it’s important to have a website on a topic that you’re interested in – if you’re not interested, you’ll lose motivation pretty quickly.

Writing can be difficult and time-consuming so there are many sites out there that provide free articles for you to download and post on your site. FORGET THEM. For a new website, you need to build your site with unique content. Google and your visitors will recognize that your information has come from another source and will be less likely to return to your site – they will seek out the source that it came from instead!

Once your site is well-established with a loyal readership, you can think about adding some free articles, but until then you need to promote your site as being fresh and unique.

Submit, Submit, Submit

It goes without saying that you need to submit your site to Google and other major search engines. All major search engines have a ‘submit your site’ link, so this is quite easy. Somewhat more time-consuming is submitting your site to ‘community-based sites’. This involves searching for link directories and other community sites and submitting your information again and again and again.

Most people aim for the major link-directories with a high Google PageRank as they feel that this will increase their PageRank too. That philosophy is quite sound, yet don’t ignore the smaller directories! While these directories may not list as many sites and lack a high PageRank, your site will stand out a lot more. Being a big fish in a small pond can generate quite a few hits. The underlying advice with directories is to submit to all of them - big or small.

Next, submit your site to ‘community-based’ sites such MyBlogLog, MySiteProfile etc. These sites are fantastic as they often give you your own homepage to display information about your site. For a new, small site, this will virtually double your visibility on the web. Furthermore, it enables you join communities of similar websites. People often surf based on what topic they are interested in so if you are a member of a community people will often come to your site from other similar sites. It’s just like getting links from other well-established sites.

If you’re a blogger, join traffic generation sites such as BlogMad and BlogExplosion. These sites are fantastic and easy for bringing hits to your site. But there is a downside – surfers to your site will usually only stay the required amount of time and then leave. However, if your blog is good enough, they’ll come back. Another word of warning is to be careful if your site displays Adsense. Using these traffic generation sites can violate the Adsense Terms of Service. I’ve never used these sites to bring traffic to an Adsense site, but here’s a tip: Surf other people’s sites and use the credits earned to display your banner on other sites or rent space on other sites. BlogExplosion has a fantastic feature called ‘Rent My Blog’ that enables just this. It’s free advertising and you’ll achieve higher visibility than with AdWords!

Research Your Market

This is by far the hardest and most time consuming of all the steps, yet it is definitely the most important! Although my site launched on December 30th 2006, the whole month of December was spent researching sites claiming to have information on increasing traffic (usually for a fee!) and how to optimize your website for search engines. This was incredibly time consuming due to the literally millions of sites out there claiming to have all the best information. Yet, despite the number of sites, the information all seemed to be repeated and quite similar. Basically, every one of these sites gave the following information:

Update regularly – This will invite the search engines to visit you more often.

Create a website on a topic that interests you – I don’t feel this is completely necessary, but it does help maintain the motivation to keep building the site during it’s initial stages.

Get links from other high-ranking sites related to your topic – Easier said than done for a new site!

“Build a fresh, content-rich site” – AAAAHHH!!!! I don’t know how many times I read this on the ‘build your traffic’ sites, but it was about 4 million too many! Unfortunately, it’s true!

Find a niche-market – The internet has million of sites. There are not may niche markets left. You are going to have a fair amount of competition in any market. Luckily, the internet has billions of users so you can still get a piece of the pie in any market.

While the research stage was time-consuming and often pointless, it did give me the most important piece of advice:

2. Are there any bug or vulnerable code on Adsense?

If you’re a publisher who uses Google AdSense to monetize your site, you may notice how easy it is to paste in your AdSense code onto your webpage’s code. These few lines of javascript then lets Google “sense” the content of the page the code is in, and publish the relevant and applicable ads according to context.

However, what you won’t notice at first is how insecure this is. Your AdSense code is up there for anyone to see as soon as a reader uses his browser’s View Source functionality. And the most important part of this code is your publisher ID.

In theory, anyone who can see this code can just paste in your own AdSense code into their own sites and do all sorts of malicious stuff with your account. For one, they can simulate clickfraud by loading up their page with your ads in it, and keep on clicking the ads. You might end up being suspended or banned from AdSense because of this. Even if you can contest the suspension, the few days or weeks’ time without AdSense might hit you hard in terms of lost revenue.

A malicious user can also paste your ad code on a website in violation of the AdSense terms of service, such as on an adult site or a site that distributes pirated content.

Google has not yet enforced measures to protect legitimate publishers against possible defrauding through these ways. Some good methods we think worth considering are banning based on URLs and not AdSense publisher ID, and even hiding the publisher ID itself from being public viewable.

For now, it pays to be vigilant in monitoring your ad performance and behavior. If you think you’re getting too much, or if you find other sites using your publisher ID (you can do a Google search for that line of text), then it’s time to get in touch with the Google AdSense team for help.

1. Shift your Ads location frequently

Well, when you’re monetizing your websites using AdSense, it pays to experiment. This is because many readers will already be AdSense-blind, especially if they are tech-savvy, or if they are already repeat readers. Still, it’s good to target your ads at people who are not likely to click on bland, plain AdSense links.

Sometimes you can change the positioning. You can shift the ads from the top of your post to the bottom, or from bottom to top so people will start noticing them. Sometimes you can rotate colors. Or, you can switch between image ads and text-ads.

Even better, you can place images right beside your AdSense ads, and still comply with the AdSense terms of service. While the ToS disallows place images right beside ads (since this is considered cheating), the Google AdSense team has clarified you can work around this condition if you put in a thin line between the images and the ads.

Here’s an example. Notice how more attractive it is than just having plain text ads.

If you’re using WordPress, a plugin makes it even easier to implement images beside existing AdSense ads. And it’s aplty called AdSense Beautifier. When installed, the plugin will help you convert standard AdSense codes into a revised code with additional DIV tags in place to define the style. You also have the option of choosing whether to use a static image, or to rotate among the plugin’s built-in images.

Having images beside your ads would be a good way to attract attention, and it’s yet another way of making your ads blend in right with your site’s design, as if they’re part of your site itself. This would lead to a higher likelihood of your readers clicking and hence better AdSense revenues.
